Rescue Diver is all about how to prevent and if necessary manage diving accidents.

You’ll learn to think more about the diving environment and others around you. You’ll recognise potential problems and ways to prevent them, and you’ll practice rescue scenarios. Many divers say this is the best course they’ve ever taken.

Congratulations to Ahmed, who is now a #JuniorOpenWater Diver! Its always great to help new divers get to grips with diving - the equipment, theory, safety and becoming confident in the water - but its something really special to watch our younger students complete their Open Water course and embark on a life long love affair with the sea! A big huge welcome to the #diving world, Ahmed!

#Seafans are a type of soft #corals that are often found in warm waters and around #reefs, they are a colonial animal that have a beautiful, branching structure that is covered by soft tissues.
Sea fans use their Polyps to trap small food particles, such as phytoplankton and bacteria, the fan usually grow facing water current so that food can be trapped easily over the polyps.
The polyps are connected by fleshy tissue, each polyp has a digestive cavity, but they are connected by tubes in the tissue. The whole sea fan is supported by a central axis ‘which looks a bit like a tree’. This is made by a protein called ‘Gorgon’, the root of the name ‘#Gorgonian Fan’.
Although this structure makes the sea fan looks like a plant, it is an Animal.
They can get pretty large up to 1 meter high and wide with variety of colors and can host other marine life like Feather sea stars and long nose hawk fish.
They reproduce as male and female colonies broadcast sperm and eggs into the water, fertilized eggs turns into Larva that settles on the bottom to become a polyp.
