PADI Scuba Diver is the first half of the PADI Open Water course. It qualifies you to dive to 12m with a professional guide, and can be upgraded at any time to the full PADI Open Water certification (by taking the 2 day upgrade course).
Most people jump in to scuba diving with the full PADI Open Water course, but not everyone:
Whenever you’re ready, you can do the 2nd half of the course and upgrade to the full PADI Open Water qualification – at any time, with any PADI Dive Center worldwide.
If you’re short on time, consider PADI eLearning. It costs a bit more, but it gets all the ‘homework’ out of the way before your holiday 🙂
PADI eLearning is also excellent for junior divers, as it integrates reading with video and interactive quizzes, and makes dive theory a lot more visual and fun!
PADI Scuba Diver is 2-3 days. Content is the same, the 3 day course just takes place at a slower rate (for example, less evening homework or more time explaining theory for junior divers). Here's the 2 day version:
