Trek remote canyons by camel

From Wadi Arada, you’ll trek east over the El Guna Plateau to huge remote canyons. Ride your camel or walk alongside; either way you will enjoy the quiet of the desert everywhere you go.

What’s included

  • 5 day/4 night trek
  • 6th day option to add Mt Sinai & St Catherine monastery to your trek
  • Full board camping
  • Starts/end in Dahab
  • Add accommodation and airport transfers before/after the trek, as you book
  • If you dive, freedive or climb, you can also add these before/after the trek, just add a note to your booking

Minimum 2 people to guarantee safari. Single travelers are welcome. We will add you to a group, or suggest alternative date/safari.

Schedule

Day 1: Dahab-Wadi Arada-Double Canyon-El Gona Plateau

  • About 8am, travel to Wadi Arada.
  • Morning scramble through the Double Canyon.
  • Lunch, then it’s time to meet our camels!
  • Trek to the top of Jebel El Gona – 1700m high, stretching for 50km from Ein Khudra, separating the southeast and middle west areas of Sinai
  • Enjoy sunset from the El Gona Plateau. Dinner & overnight.

Day 2: El Gona Plateau-Wadi Zalagha-Zaranig Canyons

  • After Breakfast enjoy a morning trek through Farsh El Gona & Wadi Zalagha
  • Relax at El Malagha for lunch, before traveling to the Zaranig Canyons.

Day 3: Zaranig Canyons

  • We spend all of today exploring the largest and deepest of the Zaranig canyons, stopping for lunch and tea, and enjoying the spectacular landscape. When it rains, the water floods from here down to Nuweiba.
  • Camp for the night at the start of the 2nd canyon.

Day 4: Zaranig Canyons-Abu Turefia

  • Explore 2nd of the Zaranig Canyons
  • Journey to Nabq Abu Turefia, where you can marvel at the view whilst relaxing with a cup of tea. Trek down to the wadi for dinner and camp for the night.

Day 5: Abu Turefia-Wadi Tbeiq-Zigzag Canyon-Wadi Arada-Dahab

  •  Walk through Wadi Tbeiq resting for tea under the shade of the Acacia tree
  • Travel through El Zigzag Canyon
  • One more sip of the Bedouin tea with Fraej’s family in Wadi Arada
  • Back to Dahab

6 day option:

  • add Mt Sinai & St Catherine monastery to the start or end of your trek.
